Instead of asking which brand is best, score each candidate on the same criteria. These are the ones that matter most over a lift's life of fifteen years or more.
Reliability and build quality
Ask for the make of the machine, controller and door operator. Reliable lifts use components that have a track record, and the supplier can tell you where they come from. Ask how many breakdown calls the company's own installations typically need.
Safety
Check that the lift carries door sensors, emergency brakes, overload protection and an alarm, and that it is built to Indian standards such as IS 14665. A lift that is cheaper because it leaves out safety features is not a bargain.
Ride quality

- Quotes a price without visiting the site or measuring the shaft
- Cannot tell you who manufactures the lift or where
- Leaves installation, testing and commissioning out of the quotation without saying so
- Will not name the make of the main components

Maintenance: Where Good Companies Show Themselves
The best lift company is often the one that looks after its lifts well after the sale. A lift AMC should spell out its scope in writing. A comprehensive contract covers parts and labour. A non-comprehensive contract covers labour only, and parts are billed separately. Neither is wrong, but you should know which one you are signing. We recommend servicing a lift at least once a year, and lifts with heavy daily use, such as hospital and commercial lifts, usually need more frequent visits.
