Lift Company in India

A developer in Ahmedabad is planning a fourteen-floor tower and needs a lift company that can supply, install and service six lifts. A hospital administrator in Hyderabad needs stretcher lifts that will run all day without trouble. A homeowner in Chandigarh wants a quiet lift for a three-storey house. Each of them is looking for a lift company in India, and each will get a better result by asking different questions before choosing.

Carrymax Lifts designs, manufactures, installs and services lifts for homes, hospitals, hotels, showrooms and factories. This page explains the kinds of lift companies you will meet in India, how to compare them, what a branded lift should really offer, and how to avoid the common mistakes buyers make before signing a contract.

What a Lift Company in India Actually Does

The words lift company cover several different businesses, and the difference matters when something goes wrong. A lift company may do one or more of these jobs:

  • Manufacture: design and build the cabin, machine, controller and doors
  • Supply and trade: sell lifts made by someone else
  • Install: erect the lift in your shaft, then test and commission it
  • Maintain: service the lift under a contract and attend breakdowns
  • Modernize: replace controllers, doors or cabin interiors in older lifts

A company that does all five under one roof gives you a single point of responsibility. A company that only trades or installs depends on others for the product and the parts, which is fine if the arrangement is clear and risky if it is not. Ask any lift company in India which of these jobs it does with its own team.

The Types of Lift Companies You Will Meet

Buyers usually come across four kinds of business. Each has a place, and none is right for every project.

Large multinational brands

These companies have wide product ranges and large service networks. They are a natural choice for high-rise towers, airports and large commercial projects, where speed and traffic handling are complex. Their pricing and customisation options reflect that scale.

Indian manufacturers

Indian manufacturers build lifts for the domestic market and often offer more flexibility on cabin size, finish and delivery time. A manufacturer based close to your site can also respond faster to service calls.

Regional makers and assemblers

Smaller makers serve a state or a region. Quality varies widely, so check where the components come from and how long the company has been servicing its own installations.

Local installers and lift vendors

Lift vendors and installers sell and fit lifts, usually built by others, and often service them too. They can be good value for simple projects. Ask who stands behind the warranty and where the spare parts come from.

How to Choose a Building Lift Company

A building lift company has to deliver a product that fits the shaft, the traffic and the budget, then keep it running for fifteen years or more. Judge each candidate against the same checklist.

  1. Product fit: does it offer the lift type you need, whether passenger, hospital, capsule, goods or car, with the capacity and speed the building requires?
  2. Customisation: can the cabin size, finish and door type be matched to your shaft and design?
  3. Who builds it: is the lift made by the company or bought in?
  4. Installation: who will install it, and is the team employed by the company?
  5. Service: where is the service team based, and what is the response process for breakdowns?
  6. Contract clarity: does the quotation say what is included and what is not?
  7. Safety: does the lift carry door sensors, emergency brakes, overload protection and an alarm, and is it built to Indian standards such as IS 14665?

Writing the answers down for each candidate makes quotations far easier to compare.

Branded Lift Company in India: What the Word Should Mean

A branded lift company is not simply one with a famous name. For a buyer, a brand should stand for four things you can check:

  • A product built to recognised standards and tested before handover
  • Components with a traceable make, so parts can be replaced without guesswork
  • A written warranty and a clear maintenance offer
  • A service team you can reach, with a record of looking after its own lifts

Ask each company for the make of the machine, controller and door operator, the warranty terms, and the names of a few buildings it has served. A company confident in its product will answer without hesitation.

Lift Vendors: Questions to Ask Before You Buy

Many buyers deal with lift vendors, particularly for smaller projects. A vendor can be a perfectly good route, provided you understand what you are buying. Ask these questions:

  • Who manufactures the lift, and where?
  • Who installs it, and who is responsible if installation is faulty?
  • What does the warranty cover, and who honours it?
  • Who services the lift after the warranty, and under what contract?
  • How long will spare parts remain available?

Vendors who answer clearly and in writing are usually dependable. Vague answers are a warning.

Which Lift Fits Which Building

Building Lift usually recommended Why
Independent house or villa MRL, gearless or capsule No machine room, quiet ride, glass option
Apartment block or office Passenger lift with serial or parallel controller Higher traffic and shorter waits
Hospital or nursing home Stretcher lift Deeper cabin, wide doors, smooth levelling
Factory or warehouse Freight or goods lift Heavy loads and rough duty
Showroom or service centre Car lift Vehicles between levels
Hotel or mall Capsule or passenger lift Design feature and guest comfort

Our passenger lifts carry 4 to 20 persons (272 to 1360 kg) at speeds up to 1 m/s. Capsule lifts carry 8 to 20 persons at 0.5 to 1.5 m/s in three-side glass, five-side glass or round shapes. You can see the full range on our page for passenger lift manufacturers.

Comparing Quotations From Different Companies

Two quotations that look very different usually cover different scopes. Compare them line by line:

  • Lift type, capacity, speed and number of stops
  • Machine type: geared, gearless or machine room less
  • Cabin finish, door type and door size
  • What the price covers: supply, installation, testing and commissioning
  • What it leaves out, such as shaft civil work, electrical supply and backup power
  • Warranty period and the first maintenance period

The lowest price is rarely the lowest cost. A lift that needs frequent repairs, or that cannot be serviced locally, costs more over fifteen years than a better-supported one that cost a little more on day one.

Maintenance and Annual Maintenance Contracts

A lift company is judged as much by what happens after handover as before it. A lift AMC should spell out its scope in writing. A comprehensive contract covers parts and labour. A non-comprehensive contract covers labour only, and parts are billed separately. Neither is wrong, but you should know which one you are signing.

Check that the contract names the number of scheduled visits, the response process for breakdowns, and the safety items inspected each time: door sensors, brakes, the overload device and the alarm. We recommend servicing a lift at least once a year, and lifts with heavy daily use, such as hospital and commercial lifts, usually need more frequent visits.

Why Choose Carrymax Lifts as Your Lift Company

We started as an erection and commissioning contractor for established elevator brands. We then built our own manufacturing facility in IMT, Faridabad, and began selling under our own name. Today we handle manufacturing, supply, installation, testing, commissioning, repair, modernization and maintenance of lifts for residential, commercial and industrial buildings. Our head office and experience centre are in Faridabad, with branch offices in Karnal and Mohali.

We manufacture in-house, so the cabin, machine and controller come from one source and one team answers for them. Cabin size, colour, materials and door type can be customised to the building. If you want to compare us with others, our guide to the top 10 elevator companies in India explains how the market is structured, and our page on elevator manufacturers in India goes deeper on manufacturers. Frequently Asked Questions
Compare candidates on the same checklist: the lift types they offer, whether they manufacture their own lifts, who installs and services them, how clearly the quotation states its scope, and whether the lift carries standard safety features and is built to Indian standards such as IS 14665.
A manufacturer designs and builds the lift itself and answers for its parts. A vendor sells lifts made by others and may install and service them. Both can be good, but you should ask who stands behind the warranty and the spare parts.
Look for a product built to recognised standards, components with a traceable make, a written warranty and maintenance offer, and a service team with a record of looking after its own installations. A famous name alone does not guarantee these.
Apartment blocks usually need passenger lifts with a serial or parallel controller to keep waiting time short. Independent houses and villas usually suit MRL, gearless or capsule lifts, depending on the shaft and the budget.
We do both. Our manufacturing facility is in IMT, Faridabad, where lifts are built to your agreed specification before our team installs, tests and commissions them at your site.
Door sensors, emergency brakes, overload protection and alarm systems come as standard, along with Variable Frequency Drive control for smooth starts and stops. We build to the relevant Indian standards, including IS 14665.
At least once a year. Lifts with heavy daily use, such as hospital and commercial lifts, usually need more frequent visits, and some state laws require monthly maintenance.
Send us the building type, number of floors and expected use. We arrange a free site survey, recommend a lift and share a proposal.
